Grand National

Grand National takes advantage of the ubiquity of Darzan, a wooden rocking horse one finds easily on Swiss playgrounds. Its declining popularity in the 21st century makes it an endangered species. This project aimed to make Darzan relevant again by making it interactive.

Grand National comprises a tailored harness holding a smartphone in place for the rider, as well as a mobile app that translates the rocking motion into gameplay through the accelerometer. A fully functional prototype was displayed at Geneva Design Days in 2013.
